New President and members in the Board of the Motion Picture Public Foundation of Hungary
Changes in MPPFH
The renewed Advisory Board of the Motion Picture Public Foundation of Hungary has been established on a whole new basis with reforms coming into existence on 28 April 2010.
Among its essential plans are the modernisation of the Foundation’s organisation as well as its decision-making system starting with a total check-through at all three levels (organisational, economical and legal). MPPFH’s new operational strategy is aiming at public transparency in the decision-making from both a financial and professional point of view.
To strengthen the relationship between film industry and the Advisory Board, a Filming Counselling Board has been set up, operating on a three-month basis providing an annual general report with a public cover about the work of the Advisory Board.
New Tender System
The new Advisory Board’s main focus is a gradual modernisation of the tender-system.
Film-production tenders are to be evaluated in line of European point-system standards. Winning tenders are chosen by the Advisory Board with a professional and a film-strategic focus with recommendations of the Financial Committee and upon the evaluation from the film-trade, following public presentation.
The Advisory Board of Motion Picture Public Foundation wishes to improve the standards of Hungarian film trade by improving its tender-structure also by responsible as well as professionally considerate and efficient outgoings of public financial sources.
Informative communication and a dialogue
MPPFH considers professional publicity as crucial.
From 1 May 2010 the board is communicating by electronic mail with all 1200 (and a gradually growing number of) participants of a film-trade unit-list in every two weeks.
MPPFH is to offer regular office hours on a weekly basis initiating a professional dialogue to maintain a free exchange- and an open expression of opinions.
National film-strategy of the Motion Picture Public Foundation of Hungary
The awakening of neglected genres has an essential role in the film-strategy of MPPFH: new prospects are foreseen for animations, documentaries, family films as well as short fiction films by covering new broadcasting opportunities.
Motion Picture Public Foundation Hungary’s main focus is to reach a growing number of Hungarian viewers by creating framework contracts with broadcasting channels, by financial allowances granted by European filming tender-sources as well as updating international cooperative strategies.
